Osteoporosis is the loss of bone mineral density (BMD). Knowing your BMD measurement now is the first step toward preventing problems often associated with this common disease. Depending on what the results show, in combination with your medical history and a physical exam, your doctor may order further tests or a combination of medications and lifestyle changes.
